Voting

Voting is simple, and everyone is asked to give your say.
After you have reviewed the entries: choose one that you think held true and exemplified the particular challenge best. Send me a note with that artists name and a link to their fractal. One vote per person, per challenge. Voting ends with the next challenge deadline.

Rules

1.) Follow the challenge guidelines.
2.) Entries must be posted here in this journal, before deadline.
3.) Only one entry per artist.
4.) Focus on Apophysis, keep postwork to a minimum (small adjustments/tweaks, watermarks, no frames)
5.) Parameters need to be posted in your entries comments, or in a comment underneath, not on the journal page.
6.) Entries must be new works for the specific challenge and not previously designed or uploaded.
7.) Usage of dc_image plugin is not allowed unless expressly called for in the specific challenge guidelines.
8.) Have fun!!!

Here my Steering through time
Looks blurred I know, please read the comments in it. It took 11 hours to render. I don't know what mess did 7X-v.C when I installed it, it's driving me nuts (more than I usually am  :frustrated: )

Some of my notes about epispiral that might be useful:

1. Epispiral is built in to Apophysis 7x version 15C and 15D, and to JWildfire. For other versions, use the plug-in from [link] or [link] (Epispiral.dll and EpispiralVariationPlugin.dll are the same).

2. The plugin variation is named with a capital 'E', while the built-in versions are named with a lower-case 'e'. This prevents direct copying/pasting or loading between versions.

3. In the plugin variation, setting Epispiral_thickness and Epispiral_holes to 0 gives the behavior described at [link] but in the built-in versions, this just gives a single dot. Making either variable non-zero seems to work the same in all versions.

4. JWildfire has a variation epispiral_wf which acts like the Epispiral plugin with thickness and holes set to 0, except the variable is called "waves" instead of "n", and is rounded to the nearest integer.

Hello,

just some more informations about this topic regarding JWildfire, which was really sometimes a rather annoying topic ;-)

The epispiral_wf variation was my first attempt to create an epispiral variation from scratch after just "guessing" the shape. At this time I had no source code available of the original Epispiral variation.

After talking to the author of the original Epispiral variation I got a pascal source code. But it never really worked like the original *.dll version of Epispiral for all parameter combinations. This really pissed me off and after trying lots of things I just grabbed a copy of the current Apophysis source code which should have the Epispiral included. But how was I laughing as I saw it was the same code :D

OK, "guessing time" again, as even Apophysis lost the track ;-) The current version of Epispiral in JWildfire seems to work like the old *.dll versions. This was for me important because one can create some really amazing fractals in the case of thickness=0.
If someone is interested in the implementation, JWildfire is open source, just grab a copy :-)

I've still be using JWildfire version 0.48. I'm really behind the times! I'm really happy to see the current version works like the Apophysis plugin when thickness=0.

Just kidding, I'm really glad that you also like the new Epispiral plugin :-) I must admit that I also like it, but for me the Epispiral plugin is one of those few "magical" plugins, like juliaN or curl.

Wow! Thanks to everyone for their support. I appreciate the votes, comments, and faves.

Special thanks to Stan for the hard work in running these challenges. There are a lot of directions to explore with Apophysis, and they help provide some focus, a lit path of the many possibilities.

Hi, Stan! I'm really sorry, but I put the wrong link in for my Apo Challenge 153 Entry. This is the correct link: [link]

I hope it's not too late to make the correction. That's what I get for trying to work on the computer when I'm half asleep.
